About the Founder & Chairman

Chaitrali Wankar

Chaitrali Wankar is a passionate social and human rights activist whose journey reflects dedication, compassion, and relentless service to society. With a powerful record of change-making, she has worked across child welfare, women’s empowerment, environmental causes, and community development.

Before founding Aahaar Sadan Sanstha, Chaitrali volunteered with PETA, served as the Director of Projects & Operations at Vishwakalyan Samajik Sanstha, and now contributes as the General Secretary (Women’s Wing) of the International Human Rights Commission, Maharashtra State. She has also designed and led Green Youngsters, an environmental cleanup initiative driven by children that successfully conducted a MIDC lake cleanup in Thane.

Her work spans across education, empowerment, and protection as a POSH and POCSO committee member in respected organizations and schools. She has conducted numerous awareness programs on women’s safety, sexual harassment, and self-defense, and has delivered lectures on adolescent issues and women’s empowerment for municipal bodies and community groups. She has also contributed at Mamta Bal Sadan founded by the late Dr. Sindhutai Sapkal (Mai), supported homeless shelters run by Thane Municipal Corporation, and founded Shiksha Sthaan, a free literacy centre under Aahaar Sadan Sanstha.

For her tireless work, Chaitrali has been honored with the Yashwantrao Chavan Puraskar and felicitations from the Dean of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital & Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, Thane Municipal Corporation, Rotary Club of Thane North, Parivartan Foundation, and Rajasthani Ekta Manch. She has mediated free heart surgeries, donated medical equipment, and collaborated with the Akshaya Patra Foundation to provide meals and awareness programs.

Through Aahaar Sadan Sanstha, she continues to live her vision of “nourishing today to empower tomorrow” - ensuring that food is not just a means of survival, but a bridge to education, dignity, and brighter futures.

Hemant Devadiga Patil

Hemant Devadiga Patil is a committed social and human rights activist whose work reflects deep compassion and an unwavering dedication to community upliftment. With hands-on experience in grassroots projects, he has been instrumental in driving initiatives that address hunger, education, and dignity for marginalized communities.

Before co-founding Aahaar Sadan Sanstha, Hemant served as the Manager of Projects and Operations at Vishwakalyan Samajik Sanstha, Thane. His journey has been marked by service to the homeless in Thane’s municipal shelter homes, organizing surplus food distribution through the Akshaya Patra Foundation, and providing mid-day meals for underprivileged children in free schools. As the Manager of Shiksha Sthaan, a free literacy centre under Aahaar Sadan Sanstha, he continues to ensure education reaches those who need it most.

Hemant has also designed and led impactful projects, including weekly free collection drives of reusable materials across Thane, Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai, turning community participation into meaningful change. His relentless social efforts have earned him recognition and felicitations from the Dean of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital & Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, as well as from the Deputy Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation’s Social Welfare Department.

As Co-Founder and Secretary of Aahaar Sadan Sanstha, Hemant plays a pivotal role in transforming the vision of “food as a bridge to education” into tangible action. His work continues to inspire hope, dignity, and empowerment across communities.
